Hello there,
Haven't posted much but read quite a bit on this forum.
Current Issue: metal shavings in oil pan, red oil lamp indicator flashed, believed balance shaft toasted, possible other engine problems (including turbo).
Query: Reputable engine building / rnr shop near me.
Location: So.Cal - San Diego, Orange County, LA, Ventura County all in my reach to get car to.
I would prefer to have a reputable shop do this work. Would not be opposed to performance upgrades on a rebuild or a new/used block stock or possible other options.
mileage on vehicle 187k
Pacific German Inc took a glance at it after holding for 2 weeks before looking (based on their work load). Chief complaint on drop off was Balance Shaft and turbo whistle (whistle didn't start as a siren sound) - the guesstimate they gave was Long Block Overhaul.
So the long block might need to be rebuilt - might not... I certainly do not want to take to a stealership.
